Chief Financial Officer – Water Services Organisation

About the role

The Water Services Organisation is establishing a new regional entity to deliver water services to the Western Bay community. We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy, systems, and capability during this formation stage.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the financial strategy for the new organisation, ensuring long‑term sustainability.
• Build and embed financial systems, processes, and governance frameworks.
• Lead a transformation programme covering Finance, Procurement, Strategy & Planning, Legal and Commercial functions.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the Board, Chief Executive and senior leaders.
• Manage relationships with councils, iwi partners and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10+ years of executive‑level financial leadership experience, preferably in the public sector.
• Proven track record of establishing or transitioning large organisations.
• Deep understanding of public‑sector financial frameworks, legislation and iwi partnership dynamics.
• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or equivalent.
• High integrity, resilience and ability to lead through complexity and change.
