Chief Financial Officer

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer will join the executive team and report directly to the CEO of a large, well‑known New Zealand business. This senior position offers the chance to shape financial strategy, influence board decisions and work closely with key decision‑makers across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO, shareholders and executive team.
• Attend board meetings and deliver comprehensive financial oversight.
• Lead a large, multidisciplinary finance team, ensuring succession planning and professional development.
• Maintain robust governance and risk‑management frameworks, overseeing annual audit, reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Partner with core business functions to improve operational effectiveness.
• Manage third‑party relationships and evaluate capital‑expenditure, investment opportunities and strategic initiatives.
• Undertake ad‑hoc duties as required by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification.
• Proven commercial, strategic and technical capability with demonstrable examples.
• Extensive experience leading large finance teams.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and influence.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to adapt quickly to business pivots.
• Strong negotiation skills and a dynamic, energetic presence.
