Business Adviser – Cost Recovery

About the role

The Business Adviser joins the Cost Recovery Oversight team within New Zealand Food Safety. You will work at the intersection of finance, policy and regulatory implementation, helping to design fair and transparent cost recovery arrangements for the national food system.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse legislation, policy and financial information to inform fee structures.
• Support the design, review and implementation of fees, levies and charges.
• Translate complex data into cost‑recovery and pricing models.
• Draft documentation, advisory notes and public communications.
• Contribute to the rollout of charging frameworks across the organisation.

Required profile

• Experience in finance, banking, large organisations or government agencies.
• Degree in finance, economics, accounting or commerce.
• Strong analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proven experience with pricing models or financial systems.
• Excellent written communication for diverse audiences.
