Automotive Electrician - Commercial Vehicles

About the role

Keith Andrews Trucks, a commercial vehicle dealership representing Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso, is looking for an Automotive Electrician to join its workshop team in Hamilton. You will diagnose, repair and maintain electrical and mechanical systems on light commercial vehicles and heavy diesel trucks, in a supportive team with experienced technical mentors.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on light commercial and heavy diesel vehicles
• Service, maintain and repair mechanical systems such as engines, drivetrains, brakes and suspension
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic systems
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
• Carry out wiring repairs, accessory installations and electrical upgrades
• Use manufacturer diagnostic software and equipment
• Complete service documentation and keep accurate workshop records
• Work with Service Advisors and customers to explain repair requirements

Required profile

• Qualified Automotive Technician, Automotive Electrician or equivalent trade qualification
• At least 3 years' experience with commercial vehicles, diesel engines, trucks or heavy equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach
• Commitment to workplace health and safety

Required skills

• Strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding ability
• Sound mechanical knowledge and repair experience
• Experience with diagnostic scan tools and electronic troubleshooting systems
