Assistant HR Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, customer‑focused Assistant HR Advisor to join our MyHR Services team at the National Office in Wellington. This entry‑level position offers the chance to develop a solid HR career in a dynamic, supportive environment where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, consistent advice to managers on HR policies, processes and tools.
• Prepare and manage employment documentation, including offer letters, onboarding packages and changes to terms and conditions.
• Support data processing and maintain accurate HR records.
• Assist with the rollout of new HR initiatives such as change programmes, new employment agreements and other people‑focused projects.

Required profile

• Entry‑level HR role suited to candidates with a passion for HR.
• Degree in a HR‑related discipline or relevant experience.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Collaborative mindset, willingness to learn and adherence to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
