Adviser – Capability (Food Safety)

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in Wellington City and focuses on designing capability solutions for New Zealand's food safety system. You will blend learning design, stakeholder engagement and regulatory insight to produce tools and resources that improve practice across the sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop tools and resources that enhance regulatory capability.
• Design engaging learning experiences, including e‑learning programmes.
• Partner with verifiers, subject‑matter experts and other stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact.
• Utilise learning management systems and content‑creation tools to deliver digital learning.
• Support projects aimed at strengthening food‑safety outcomes and consistent, high‑quality results.

Required profile

• Passionate about building capability and creating learning that makes a tangible difference.
• Experience in learning and development or capability building within complex or regulated environments.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
• Organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality.
• Interest in the primary sector or food‑safety environment.

Required skills

• Experience in adult learning or capability building.
• Ability to simplify complex or technical information into clear, engaging content.
• Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning tools.
• Background in public or private sector environments.
