Accounting Team Manager – Public Practice

About the role
McIntyre Dick is looking for an Accounting Team Manager to lead both the development of trainees and early‑career accountants and the delivery of core client services. You will mentor staff, create structured learning plans, and ensure high‑quality bookkeeping, GST and software support for our clients.
Key responsibilities
- Directly manage and develop trainees and early‑career accountants, providing coaching, feedback and study support.
- Design and oversee structured development programmes, including milestone check‑ins and L&D planning.
- Lead a team delivering bookkeeping, GST preparation and filing, and software support services.
- Manage workflow to ensure the right work is assigned to the right people at the right time.
- Maintain quality and accuracy through review and QA checks.
- Participate in the operational leadership group to help drive business growth.
Required profile
- Solid grounding in accounting with practical experience in bookkeeping and GST services.
- Leadership experience, either formal management or informal mentoring.
- Genuine passion for developing junior staff and new professionals.
- Critical thinking ability and willingness to question processes.
- At least two years’ experience in public practice (preferred).
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent real‑world experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust across all career stages.
