Team Leader – Accounts Receivable

About the role

Wellington Water is creating a new Accounts Receivable function and is looking for a technical expert to lead and embed this capability. Based in Petone, this full‑time role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution, focusing on efficient revenue processes and strong stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end Accounts Receivable function, establishing robust systems, processes and controls.
• Oversee high‑volume invoicing, credit control, debt management and reconciliations, including revenue from commercial enterprises and property developers.
• Resolve complex operational issues and ensure day‑to‑day delivery meets performance standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with local councils and external stakeholders to align billing, approval and payment frameworks.
• Drive continuous improvement through compliant financial processing, risk management, policy development, system enhancements (e.g., TechOne) and reporting.

Required profile

• High‑level technical expertise in accounts receivable, credit control, debt management and complex invoicing.
• Proven experience leading or guiding an Accounts Receivable function with a balance of strategic oversight and hands‑on delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to design, improve and embed efficient AR systems and revenue governance frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly with local councils.
• Professional, detail‑focused and adaptable approach.
