Systems Design Engineer – Autonomous Systems

About the role

SYOS is seeking a Systems Design Engineer to lead the architecture, integration, and validation of autonomous vehicle systems across air, land, and sea. You will translate stakeholder needs into detailed system designs and ensure reliable performance of complex unmanned platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document functional and non‑functional system requirements with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain system architecture, defining subsystems and interfaces.
• Create and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to ensure seamless communication between components.
• Plan and coordinate hardware and software integration into unified systems.
• Design and execute testing strategies, analyse results, and resolve anomalies.
• Serve as the central communication hub across hardware, software and autonomy teams.
• Feed test and performance insights back into continuous system improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electronics, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of systems engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, robotics or autonomous systems.
• Strong understanding of systems architecture, requirements management and integration.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence and DOORS.
• Familiarity with hardware and software testing and validation methodologies.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
