Category Specialist – Chemicals

About the role

Fonterra is seeking a Category Specialist – Chemicals to join the Procurement team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the GM Procurement, Category Management, you will drive value through strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management for the engineering spend portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category sourcing strategies that deliver sustainable best value.
• Lead sourcing activities, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance.
• Monitor market dynamics, identify risks and opportunities, and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Implement risk mitigation plans for high‑risk suppliers and categories.
• Conduct supplier segmentation and engagement planning.
• Ensure procurement controls are applied consistently across all activities.

Required profile

• Experienced procurement professional with proven success in category strategy development and execution.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to navigate complex sourcing environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Solid end‑to‑end procurement experience, including sourcing, negotiation, contract establishment, and supplier management.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
