Specialist, Employee Relations

About the role

Join IAG, the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand, as a Specialist in Employee Relations. You will provide expert, compliant advice to Property & Casualty (P&C) leaders and their teams, ensuring a safe, inclusive workplace that aligns with IAG’s purpose and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver employee relations advice to P&C leaders within agreed service levels, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
• Support proactive employee relations initiatives, including training for leaders and addressing emerging themes.
• Collaborate with the ER Lead and Advisors on complex case management and escalations.
• Conduct P&C due diligence and integration activities for business transactions.
• Liaise with the internal employment law team to obtain legal advice when required.
• Identify risk management opportunities and advise on people components of business projects.
• Represent IAG in mediation and before the Employment Relations Authority.
• Monitor external trends, case law, and regulatory changes to maintain compliance.

Required profile

• 5‑8+ years of employee relations or employment law experience, preferably in a complex commercial environment.
• Proven ability to translate technical employee relations issues into clear, pragmatic solutions.
• Strong autonomous work ethic and ability to thrive in a high‑performing team.
• Strategic mindset with the capacity to anticipate and resolve issues.
• Courage to challenge and influence stakeholders.
• Experience coaching leaders and HR practitioners on employee relations matters.
