Service Technician – Maintenance & Reactive Support

About the role

As a Service Technician I you will work on‑site at Asda in Warrington, maintaining and repairing Vanderlande’s material handling systems. The role combines planned preventative maintenance with rapid response to breakdowns, ensuring equipment availability, safety and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine operational, functionality, cleaning, adjustment, lubrication and monitoring tasks on equipment.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and corrective/reactive interventions within agreed timescales.
• Respond quickly to breakdown situations, diagnose root causes and implement permanent solutions.
• Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.
• Provide professional customer interaction via face‑to‑face, telephone, email or radio.
• Cover shifts for other technicians when required and share knowledge with the team.

Required profile

• Good level of electrical and mechanical multi‑skilling.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and methodical approach.
• Effective communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Willingness to work shifts and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Electrical systems knowledge.
• Mechanical systems knowledge.
• Experience or familiarity with PLC control systems (desirable).
• ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) experience (beneficial).
