Senior Project Manager – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

Neoen New Zealand is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the development of utility‑scale solar, wind and storage projects from site identification through to handover to the construction team. You will coordinate multiple workstreams, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure projects meet technical, commercial and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead origination, development and execution of utility‑scale renewable energy projects from early assessment to financial close.
• Define project strategies, milestones, budgets, risk mitigation and stakeholder engagement plans.
• Negotiate land agreements, commercial contracts and development arrangements with partners.
• Oversee consenting processes with consultants, Iwi, local authorities and government bodies.
• Manage grid‑connection strategy and applications with network operators.
• Coordinate internal interfaces across engineering, legal, finance, procurement and construction teams.
• Drive projects to financial close and hand over to construction and operations teams.

Required profile

• Tertiary degree in engineering, project management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years experience delivering large‑scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects, preferably across solar, wind and storage.
• Proven ability to lead complex, multi‑stakeholder projects in a dynamic environment.
• Strong understanding of consenting, land acquisition, grid connection, commercial structuring and risk management.
• Experience managing external consultants, contractors, landowners, Iwi, public authorities and cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and decision‑making skills.
