Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical work packages within our Building Services segment. You will join a Wellington team of over 400 engineers across the Asia Pacific, working on diverse client projects and advancing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage mechanical work packages for building services projects from concept through construction completion.
• Deliver HVAC design, including load estimation, detailed design, and construction monitoring.
• Mentor and develop junior mechanical engineers to support project delivery.
• Utilise load estimation tools such as Carrier E-20 or IES and design communication software like Bluebeam and Revit.
• Ensure designs comply with international standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE) and, where applicable, New Zealand building codes and seismic requirements.

Required profile

• 5‑6 years of experience in heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning (HVAC) design.
• 2‑3 years of consulting experience, preferably within New Zealand.
• Proactive problem‑solver who works effectively in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to guide junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Familiarity with relevant international and local standards and codes.
