Senior Grain Trader

About the role

Dahuti is seeking an experienced Grain Trader to originate and manage grain and feed sales across New Zealand and Australasia. The role blends office‑based analysis with field visits to growers and customers, ensuring a seamless supply chain from purchase to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Originate, negotiate and execute grain purchase and sale contracts with producers, processors and traders.
• Manage logistics for transportation, storage and delivery to meet timing and cost targets.
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients while identifying new business opportunities.
• Monitor market trends, prices and supply‑demand dynamics to spot trading opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Dahuti team on risk‑management strategies and provide regular performance reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of agribusiness sales or procurement experience in New Zealand.
• Strong understanding of grain markets, pricing mechanisms and industry regulations.
• Agronomy knowledge to support growers' decision‑making.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in agricultural science, economics or a related field is desirable.
