Real Estate Solicitor – Property Lawyer (Wellington)

About the role

Simpson Grierson is seeking an intermediate property lawyer to join its national Real Estate Practice Group in Wellington. You will work on a diverse portfolio of property development, commercial leasing, subdivisions, and acquisition/disposal transactions for both public and private sector clients across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and advise on commercial property transactions, including purchases, sales, and leases.
• Provide legal support for property development projects and subdivision processes.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal opinions.
• Conduct detailed legal research and produce written opinions for clients.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers and support the development of junior solicitors.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience (PQE).
• Strong transactional capability and commercial mindset.
• Excellent research, analytical, and opinion‑writing abilities.
• Proactive, bright, and able to manage a busy, varied workload.
• Team‑oriented with a commitment to a collaborative environment.
