About the role
As a Processing Operator at McCain's Timaru plant, you will own a production zone, turning locally sourced potatoes into chips and fries. The role runs 24/7 on a rotating 12‑hour shift pattern and includes full training.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the efficient operation of your assigned production zone.
- Set up and operate computerized touchscreen machinery.
- Follow a structured roster of 12‑hour shifts (2 days day, 2 nights, 4 days off).
- Remain actively engaged, standing and walking for extended periods.
- Perform basic data entry for quality control and administration.
- Conduct regular cleaning and sanitation routines.
- Identify and resolve product or equipment defects quickly.
- Provide clear handovers at shift changes.
Required profile
- High mental agility – quick learner, problem‑solver.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication.
- Comfortable with prolonged standing and walking.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Commitment to health, safety and food quality standards.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand and willingness to undergo medical, drug and reference checks.
