Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Join NZ Post’s Christchurch depot and keep our state‑of‑the‑art parcel and letter sorting machinery running at peak performance. As a Maintenance Engineer you will work in a collaborative environment, applying your problem‑solving skills to ensure continuous, reliable operation of automated processing equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fault finding and repair on mechanical, electrical and control‑system components as issues arise.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Document maintenance activities and update equipment logs.
• Support the implementation of upgrades and new technology within the depot.
• Work a 4‑week rotational roster covering day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts.

Required profile

• Minimum two years experience as an electrical or mechanical technician/engineer.
• Either a New Zealand Electrical Registration or Electrical Service Technician Registration (papers A & B) OR a Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Calm, logical approach under pressure with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to work rostered shifts.
