Lodge Host & Chef (Couples Welcome) – Seasonal Role in Fiordland

About the role

This is a fixed‑term, seasonal position from mid‑October 2026 to April/May 2027 at a luxury lodge in the remote Whakatipu Waitai (Hollyford) area of Fiordland National Park. The role combines lodge hosting and chef responsibilities, welcoming individuals or couples to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a pristine wilderness setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide warm, professional guest service from arrival to departure.
• Manage daily lodge operations, including administration, housekeeping, and presentation.
• Build genuine connections with guests and support a positive team environment.
• Prepare high‑quality lodge‑style meals for approximately 20 guests, accommodating diverse dietary requirements.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation standards.
• Oversee stock, ordering, and kitchen systems while leading the kitchen team.

Required profile

• Passionate about hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
• Thrives in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
• Works well independently and within a small, close‑knit team.
• Strong communication skills with a calm, positive approach.

Required skills

• Experience in hospitality, guest services, housekeeping, or lodge operations.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Duty Manager’s Certificate or beverage service experience (advantageous).
• Professional cooking experience and confidence working in an open kitchen.
