Internal Communications Manager

About the role

Westpac is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Manager to join its People and Communications team. You will act as a trusted partner to multiple business units, shaping and delivering communication strategies that support enterprise‑wide initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end internal communications strategy and execution for a portfolio of business units.
• Provide strategic counsel on narrative, sequencing, tone and audience impact, ensuring alignment with communications principles.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to develop leader communications, engagement strategies and adoption campaigns for large‑scale transformation.
• Manage incident communications, including escalation, approvals and control processes.
• Produce a variety of content, such as video scripts and online channel materials, to reach diverse audiences.

Required profile

• Energy, drive and a solutions‑focused mindset.
• Proven experience advising and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to build trusted relationships.
• Experience leading internal communications for organisational change and transformation.
• Creative, innovative and able to handle high‑risk or sensitive communications.
• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or equivalent experience.
