Incoming Quality Control Inspector – Mechanical

About the role

The Incoming Quality Control Inspector – Mechanical ensures that all mechanical components entering the production line meet Rocket Lab’s stringent engineering and quality standards. Working on‑site at the Warkworth facility, you will perform detailed inspections of purchased parts, 3‑D printed items, CNC‑machined components and composite assemblies. Your work helps prevent faulty hardware from progressing through manufacturing and supports root‑cause analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex mechanical inspections for purchased parts, 3‑D‑printed components and CNC‑machined items.
• Inspect composite materials, components and assemblies to verify compliance with quality specifications.
• Carry out precision inspections at receiving, in‑process and final assembly stages using hand measurement tools.
• Document non‑conformances in Rocket Lab’s ERP, MES and issue‑tracking systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and management to improve work instructions and identify critical inspection points.
• Coordinate with production personnel to prioritize inspection activities and support root‑cause mitigation.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect deviations from engineering standards.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Ability to work on‑site at the Warkworth facility and interact with cross‑functional teams.
• Commitment to maintaining high quality standards for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
