Flight Dynamics Engineer II

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer II to join its Space Systems operations team. You will work on a portfolio of high‑profile missions, including lunar, Mars, re‑entry, and interplanetary projects, supporting mission design, trajectory analysis, and flight‑dynamics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mission design and trajectory analysis for a variety of space missions.
• Execute flight‑dynamics operations, including tracking, navigation, maneuver design, and collision avoidance within Mission Control.
• Develop and maintain software tools used for mission analysis and flight‑dynamics suites.
• Collaborate closely with Command & Control, Space Ops Software, Electrical, Propulsion, GNC, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support real‑time flight operations for missions such as CAPSTONE, Varda re‑entry, ESCAPADE, LOXSAT, GlobalStar, Victus Haze, and a privately funded Venus mission.

Required profile

• Experience in flight dynamics, mission analysis, or trajectory design for space missions.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced Mission Control environment and solve complex technical problems.
• Strong collaboration skills to interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
