Field Service Engineer – South Island, NZ

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support its ophthalmic equipment portfolio across the South Island of New Zealand. The role combines technical service, customer interaction and collaboration with sales and marketing teams to ensure equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality technical support to Alcon customers and internal sales/marketing teams.
• Manage the South Island territory, overseeing installations, repairs and planned maintenance.
• Perform new equipment installations in partnership with customers and the sales force.
• Document service activities accurately and submit reports on time.
• Assist sales and marketing colleagues and promote Alcon Service Agreements.
• Ensure compliance with all quality, ISO and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience as a field service engineer in a medical‑technology environment.
• Certificate III (or higher) in an electronics‑related discipline; biomedical engineering qualification is a plus.
• Current New Zealand electrical licence and a valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to travel frequently across the South Island and occasional international trips.
• Physical capability for lifting, bending and manual handling.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, laser/energy meters, pressure and vacuum meters.
• Advanced PC literacy.
