Engineering Geologist – Transport & Water Projects

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary consulting team in Auckland to provide geological insight for major transport, water and urban development projects. You will lead field investigations, interpret complex ground conditions and translate findings into actionable advice that guides project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site investigations including drilling, CPTs, geophysics, test pits and mapping.
• Coordinate field activities, contractors and data collection.
• Interpret ground conditions and develop engineering geological models.
• Work with Technical Directors and senior staff to assess and manage ground risk.
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to geotechnical assessments.
• Support construction monitoring, design activities and safe project delivery.
• Mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology.
• 4–7 years’ experience in engineering geology consulting, with at least 3 years in Auckland.
• Strong geomorphic mapping and geological logging capability.
• Chartered status or working toward chartership (favourable).
• Full NZ driver’s licence and a strong health, safety and environment mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS.
• Experience using LeapFrog.
• Experience with Rocscience software.
• Experience with gINT/OpenGround or similar reporting tools.
