Endpoint Engineering Specialist

About the role

Datacom’s Endpoint Engineering team builds and maintains modern desktop Standard Operating Environments (SOE) for a range of customers across New Zealand. As an Endpoint Engineering Specialist you will work directly with clients to deliver cloud‑first productivity and collaboration solutions, provide third‑level desktop support and help continuously improve their IT landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain contemporary SOE architectures for multiple client environments.
• Collaborate with customers to roll out cloud‑first productivity and collaboration tools.
• Create and refine processes that standardise support and maintenance across diverse infrastructures.
• Provide 3rd‑level escalation support for complex desktop issues.
• Proactively manage and sustain customer SOEs and related supporting infrastructure.
• Execute project tasks accurately, contribute to reporting and mentor junior team members.
• Uphold health and safety standards in line with Datacom policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in endpoint engineering and SOE management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology or a related discipline.
• ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Cloud PC solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Intune and SCCM/MECM.
• Knowledge of hardware and software vendor support processes and product lifecycles.
• Advanced end‑user management using modern and traditional SOE methodologies.
