Construction Project Manager – Bay of Islands

About the role

Ventia is seeking a hands‑on Construction Project Manager based in Puketona (Paihia area) to lead civil infrastructure projects across the Far North. The role focuses on roading works and requires a visible, on‑site presence to guide crews, coordinate resources and ensure safe, high‑quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver projects safely, on time, and to a high standard.
• Plan and manage resources, plant, and materials.
• Monitor performance, mitigate risks, and control costs.
• Interpret drawings and support site set‑out.
• Provide technical leadership to field teams.
• Build strong client relationships.
• Support pricing, tenders, and contract risk evaluation.
• Drive SHEQ performance and a Safe for Life culture.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong experience in civil/construction project management.
• Confident working on‑site and in the field.
• Strong financial and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in roading or transport infrastructure projects (desirable).
• Knowledge of NZS3910 contracts (desirable).
• Class 1 driver licence.
• Civil engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Intermediate MS Office skills.
