Support Worker – Forensic Rehabilitation (Porirua)

About the role

Join IDEA Services as a Support Worker in Porirua, providing forensic rehabilitation for adults with high and complex needs who have had contact with the justice system. You will help individuals develop new skills, build supportive relationships, and progress towards community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients in daily activities and community outings.
• Monitor behaviour, ensure safety, and apply de‑escalation techniques when needed.
• Coach clients through their rehabilitation journey, encouraging positive change.
• Maintain accurate records using computers or tablets.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and liaise with clients’ whānau.

Required profile

• Life experience and a positive, non‑judgmental attitude.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with clients.
• Resilience, safety awareness and physical fitness for active duties.
• Full NZ driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Experience supporting people with complex needs (preferred).
• Confidence handling challenging behaviour and using de‑escalation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable using computers and tablets for daily tasks.
