Site Engineer – Wharf Repair (Invercargill)

About the role

Fulton Hogan is seeking a Site Engineer to join the Invercargill team on a live marine wharf repair project for a heavy‑industrial client. The role is hands‑on, working primarily over water with divers supporting key activities, and requires a practical, organised professional ready to contribute from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day engineering delivery for wharf repair and marine structures.
• Coordinate site activities across piling, concrete repair, and associated structural works.
• Work closely with supervisors, subcontractors, divers and the wider project team to ensure safety, compliance and progress.
• Assist with planning, sequencing and short‑term programming in a live marine environment.
• Prepare and maintain quality documentation including ITPs, QA records, inspections, as‑builts and site reports.
• Monitor safety, environmental and quality performance and raise issues promptly.
• Help coordinate plant, materials and subcontractor activities for smooth delivery.
• Support the Project Engineer and Project Manager with progress tracking and site‑based problem solving.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on civil, structural or marine construction projects.
• Exposure to piling, concrete and structural repair works, preferably in challenging environments.
• Practical understanding of live construction sites and coordination of multiple moving parts.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and delivering work correctly.
• Collaborative, low‑ego attitude with willingness to pitch in where needed.
• Clear communication skills, good site awareness and a proactive mindset.
