Senior Data Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer within ANZ's Central Functions Technology team, you will maintain and evolve critical business platforms that support the bank's central operations in New Zealand. You will provide deep technical expertise to keep systems stable, resilient and well‑governed while working across production support and change delivery in a regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely operational support for designated systems, including 24/7 on‑call production support using standard change and incident management tools.
• Develop, test and implement technical solutions that support both projects and ongoing operations.
• Manage and support Oracle‑based applications on UNIX and Linux environments, leveraging Control‑M automation.
• Maintain transparent status reporting to all key stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Ensure adherence to quality control, data governance, IT strategy, governance policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Provide accurate resource estimates for development and maintenance activities.
• Contribute to the management of ANZ’s non‑financial risks.

Required profile

• Strong experience supporting Oracle applications, including batch processing.
• Proficiency with UNIX and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Control‑M job scheduling and automation.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 on‑call roster and handle production incidents.
• Understanding of data governance, quality control and regulatory compliance in a banking environment.
