Senior Accountant – Advisory & Compliance

About the role

Join RWCA Nelson as a senior accountant where you will own complex client engagements from start to finish. This balanced role blends compliance work with advisory, allowing you to review, analyse, and provide commercial insight while mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex financial statements and tax returns for a diverse client base.
• Analyse financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and produce management reports, forecasts and budgets.
• Apply IFRS expertise in practice and support the development of team capability.
• Lead workflow, ensure quality of team output and mentor junior and intermediate members.
• Act as a trusted point of contact, delivering practical, commercially‑focused advice to clients.

Required profile

• CA qualified (or close to qualification) with solid hands‑on experience in a chartered accountancy or business advisory environment.
• Strong technical capability across accounting and New Zealand tax.
• Confidence reviewing work and supporting team members.
• Positive cultural influence, ownership mindset and clear communication.
