Playground & Asset Maintenance Operator

About the role

Green by Nature is seeking a reliable Playground & Asset Maintenance Operator to support the Waitaki District Council in keeping parks, playgrounds, and public amenities in top condition. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will work across the district performing inspections, repairs, and routine upkeep of a variety of outdoor assets.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain playground equipment, sports courts, BBQs, bus shelters, waterways, and park furniture.
• Carry out basic handyman tasks, minor repairs, cleaning, and refurbishments.
• Perform playground aeration and asset validation to ensure safety and compliance.
• Assist the wider maintenance team as required, adapting to flexible schedules.

Required profile

• Broad range of handyperson abilities with prior maintenance experience preferred.
• Completion of a Level 2 Playground Inspection and Maintenance Course (preferred).
• Current full driver’s licence with the ability to operate a manual vehicle.
• High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a positive safety mindset.
• Excellent communication, reliability, punctuality, and cooperative attitude.
