Court Registry Officer

About the role

The Court Registry Officer supports the smooth operation of the New Plymouth District & High Court. Working closely with judges, lawyers and the public, you will ensure court processes run efficiently and accurately.

Key responsibilities

• Manage case files, ensuring data is accurate, up‑to‑date and entered correctly.
• Run court sessions, opening proceedings in English and Te Reo Māori and supporting judges in the courtroom and chambers.
• Provide front‑line customer service via face‑to‑face, phone and email, addressing court‑related enquiries.
• Perform general administrative duties to keep the court environment organised.

Required profile

• Resilient and able to handle sensitive, high‑volume cases.
• Detail‑oriented with strong observational skills.
• Self‑aware, mature and positive when dealing with diverse customers.
• Capable of multitasking and shifting quickly between repetitive tasks.
• Eager to learn and adapt to changing legislation and procedures.
• Excellent communicator with good English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation; comfortable using audio‑visual equipment.
• Calm, flexible and not intimidated by a busy courtroom environment.
