Biosecurity Passenger Facilitator – Wellington Airport

About the role

We are seeking a Biosecurity Passenger Facilitator to join Biosecurity New Zealand on a permanent part‑time basis at Wellington International Airport. The role involves engaging with international travellers and returning residents to promote New Zealand’s biosecurity system while supporting on‑site biosecurity staff.

Key responsibilities

• Engage passengers, including families, to provide a friendly, reassuring experience on arrival.
• Raise awareness of biosecurity risks and explain required procedures.
• Assist biosecurity staff with daily operations, administration, and reporting, especially during peak periods.
• Perform tasks such as card counting, data entry, cleaning work areas, clearing amnesty bins, and supporting inspection benches.
• Ensure passenger needs and biosecurity outcomes remain the priority.

Required profile

• Reliable and committed with a positive, team‑oriented attitude.
• Previous customer‑service experience preferred.
• Ability to build rapport quickly with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing operational demands.

What we offer

• Annual salary of $60,882 pro‑rated for part‑time hours.
• Full‑time training week (Monday‑Friday, 10:00 am‑4:30 pm) before start date.
• Permanent part‑time contract (0.4 FTE, 16 hours per week).
