About the role
Join the Finance team at Whakatāne District Council as an Accounts Payable Officer. You will ensure that the Council’s suppliers and contractors are paid accurately and on time while supporting essential community services.
Key responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices, payments, grants, refunds and reimbursements efficiently.
- Maintain creditor records and keep financial systems up‑to‑date.
- Reconcile creditor statements and investigate any discrepancies.
- Support staff with purchase order processes and invoice approvals.
- Respond promptly to supplier and staff enquiries.
- Assist with audit requirements and financial reporting.
- Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives across financial processing.
- Provide support to the wider Finance team as needed.
Required profile
- Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Customer‑focused and comfortable building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Positive attitude and commitment to delivering excellent service.
Required skills
- Previous experience in accounts payable or finance administration.
- Understanding of accounts payable processes and financial systems.
- Ability to reconcile statements and investigate discrepancies.
