Space Systems Technician

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking skilled technicians to join its Space Systems team, building and assembling spacecraft hardware for a variety of commercial, government, and defense missions. The role involves hands‑on mechanical and electrical work on high‑precision components, including oxygen and hydrogen‑peroxide service systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform precision mechanical and electrical assembly of spacecraft hardware to strict cleanliness standards.
• Test components and subsystems using equipment such as mass spectrometers, flowmeters, vacuum chambers, and thermal chambers.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reliability, and waste reduction.
• Maintain rigorous quality standards, raise detailed quality tickets, and ensure traceability.
• Enforce safety policies, tool control, and foreign‑object‑debris (FOD) awareness.
• Share knowledge, anticipate team needs, and support positive team morale.
• (Senior) Act as technical subject‑matter expert, troubleshoot build issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and mentor junior technicians.

Required profile

• Qualified technician with appropriate skills, attitude, and personal standards for building best‑in‑class spacecraft components.
• Ability to work to exacting cleanliness and quality standards.
• For senior roles: proven expertise in troubleshooting, production order vetting, and mentoring.
