About the role

Join a collaborative team in Christchurch focused on strengthening New Zealand’s seismic resilience. As a Seismic Restraint Engineer you will work across multidisciplinary projects, from early planning through construction, delivering practical, buildable solutions for critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver seismic restraint solutions for non‑structural elements such as ceilings, partitions and building services.
• Engage with site teams, contractors and subcontractors to ensure designs are constructible and meet project schedules.
• Apply engineering judgement to a range of projects in healthcare, education and other critical sectors.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes and compliance with New Zealand standards.
• Contribute to a supportive team culture that values learning and collaboration.

Required profile

• Qualified Structural or Mechanical Engineer, or equivalent practical experience.
• Interest or experience in seismic restraint design for non‑structural elements.
• Ability to work hands‑on, solve problems and communicate effectively with clients and contractors.
• Willingness to develop knowledge of building services systems and interior construction.
