Registered Nurse – B4 School Check

About the role

This permanent, part‑time position (0.7 FTE) supports 4‑year‑old children across regional Wellington. You will conduct health and development checks in homes, clinics, early‑childhood centres and other community hubs, helping families ensure their children are ready for school.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive health and development assessments for 4‑year‑olds, covering hearing, speech, mental and social wellbeing.
• Make referrals for children who need additional support.
• Coordinate appointments with an administrative team and manage travel to home‑visits, receiving a travel allowance.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain accurate records at the end of each day.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Strong communication and cultural safety skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with children, families and whānau.
• Flexibility, empathy and emotional intelligence to work in diverse community settings.
