Regional Leader - Central

About the role

Ko Taku Reo is seeking a Regional Leader for the Central region to join its national Leadership Team. You will oversee six geographically dispersed Resource Teacher teams that support over 850 Deaf and Hard‑of‑Hearing (DHH) students, ranging from 3 to 21 years old, across mainstream schools.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the work of six Resource Teacher teams in the Central region.
• Provide strategic direction for direct (197 students) and indirect (653 students) services.
• Report to the Head of Regional Outreach Services and contribute to national outreach planning.
• Ensure implementation of evidence‑based, culturally responsive practices for DHH inclusion.
• Maintain alignment with the New Zealand Curriculum and special education standards.

Required profile

• Fully registered teacher or school leader with middle‑ or senior‑level leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and special‑education practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage regional educational services.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
• Willingness to be based in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne or Hawke’s Bay.

• Ability to apply culturally responsive teaching practices.
