About the role
Ko Taku Reo is seeking a dynamic, fully‑registered teacher or school leader to serve as Regional Leader for the Central region. You will oversee a network of Resource Teachers of the Deaf who support more than 850 Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across mainstream schools.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate six geographically dispersed teams delivering direct and indirect services to DHH students aged 3‑21.
- Report to the Head of Regional Outreach Services and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Manage service delivery for 197 direct‑service and 653 indirect‑service students.
- Promote evidence‑based, culturally responsive inclusion practices throughout the region.
- Maintain compliance with the New Zealand Curriculum and special‑education standards.
Required profile
- Fully registered teacher or school leader with middle‑ or senior‑level leadership experience.
- Thorough understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and inclusion of DHH learners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a region comprising multiple teams.
- Located within Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne or Hawke’s Bay.
- Legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
