Project Director – Capital Projects

About the role

Fonterra is seeking a senior leader to direct a portfolio of large, complex capital projects that drive decarbonisation and energy transformation across its manufacturing network. The Project Director will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, ensuring projects deliver sustainable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of multiple large‑scale capital projects, ensuring they meet strategic objectives.
• Shape and influence portfolio‑level investment strategy, optimising capital deployment.
• Lead integration across projects, manage interdependencies and ensure delivery at scale.
• Set standards for governance, commercial discipline and risk management.
• Influence major investment decisions, including business cases and executive governance forums.
• Drive delivery excellence by embedding consistency, improving performance and lifting overall project outcomes.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across Operations, Asset Management, Engineering and executive leadership.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in managing large, complex capital projects.
• Strong commercial discipline and governance expertise.
• Ability to operate comfortably at both strategic and delivery levels.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influence skills.
