Practice Nurse (Casual)

About the role

The Health Centre at the University of Canterbury is looking for an experienced Registered Practice Nurse to join its casual team. You will provide primary health care to students and staff on the Ilam campus, working in a modern, RNZCGP‑accredited facility that integrates medical, youth health and counselling services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of general practice services, including health assessments, triage and acute care.
• Conduct telephone triage and manage urgent health needs.
• Provide vaccinations as an authorised vaccinator.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, counselling and student support teams.
• Maintain accurate records using practice management software.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of practice nursing experience.
• Current Annual Practicing Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
• Current professional indemnity insurance.
• Confidence working with diverse cultures and age groups.
• Ability to work within the scope of practice in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with practice management software.
