Placemaker – Community Activation & Regeneration

About the role

The Placemaker will support regeneration and development across key South Auckland locations. Working within the Priority Locations team, you will bring public spaces to life by building relationships, testing future plans, and delivering community‑led activations that strengthen local identity.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, mana whenua and community partners.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver place‑based activations, activities and installations.
• Manage bookings, permits, delivery plans and on‑site logistics.
• Provide on‑site support during activations, including setup and site management.
• Monitor risks, issues and support mitigation and escalation processes.
• Contribute to reporting, tracking and programme updates for delivery oversight.
• Support engagement with mana whenua and local communities to reflect local aspirations.

Required profile

• Passion for bringing places to life and delivering community‑focused initiatives.
• Practical, detail‑oriented and comfortable in fast‑paced environments.
• Strong relationship and organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and logistics.
• Confidence working with diverse stakeholders, including communities, suppliers and internal teams.
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Māori.
• Flexible availability to support on‑site event delivery when required.
• Full, clean NZ driver’s licence.
