Mental Health Nurse – Person‑Centred Support (Auckland)

About the role
This full‑time position provides high‑quality, person‑centred mental health support to individuals experiencing distress, addiction, homelessness and social disadvantage. Based in the Calder Health Centre, you will work within Te Tāpui Atawhai’s integrated service model to improve wellbeing, recovery and stability for people who are not otherwise engaged with mental health services.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the health needs of residents and whānau.
- Provide specialist mental health advice and support alongside Te Tāpui Atawhai‑Auckland City Mission teams.
- Contribute to effective discharge planning and referrals to health‑care providers and support agencies.
- Identify clinical risk situations and take appropriate action.
- Continuously improve systems, methods, efficiency and the quality of services delivered.
Required profile
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (RN, RPN or RCpN) and a valid Annual Practising Certificate.
- Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū, Mana Tika and Mana Ōrite.
- Established relationships with community mental health teams, including forensic and inpatient services.
- Empathy and understanding of the impacts of colonisation, trauma, mental health, addiction, poverty, food insecurity and homelessness.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Minimum two years of mental‑health nursing experience.
