Junior Electrical Design Engineer (Graduate)

About the role

Edison is seeking enthusiastic Graduate or Junior Electrical Design Engineers to join its Auckland team in early 2027. You will work on a variety of projects across the electricity supply industry, designing from GXP down to 400 V terminals and solving high‑voltage construction challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical design schematics and layout drawings for substations and distribution networks.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve high‑voltage construction issues.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports in line with industry standards.
• Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning.

Required profile

• Electrical engineering degree (Washington Accord accredited) or higher.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical design engineering (or equivalent graduate experience).
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective business relationships.

Required skills

• Electrical design software (substation design tools).
• Knowledge of high‑voltage (HV) construction practices.
