About the role
Tonkin + Taylor’s Air Quality team is seeking a Graduate Chemical Engineer to start in 2026. The role offers hands‑on experience in environmental engineering, focusing on air quality, odour, dust and emissions across a range of industrial and infrastructure projects in New Zealand.
Key responsibilities
- Learn how industrial processes generate air emissions, including dust, odour, combustion gases and volatile compounds.
- Assist in estimating emissions from manufacturing sites, wastewater treatment plants, quarries, landfills, energy facilities and infrastructure projects.
- Support air dispersion modelling to predict how emissions travel and affect nearby communities and environments.
- Analyse monitoring, meteorological and process data to identify trends, verify compliance and inform technical assessments.
- Contribute to odour, dust and air‑quality assessments for resource consent applications and operational management plans.
- Visit sites to gather first‑hand information and support field data collection.
Required profile
- Recent graduate (or final‑year) in Chemical & Process Engineering or Chemical & Materials Engineering.
- Curious, analytical and eager to learn about industrial and environmental systems.
- Strong interest in practical problem‑solving and delivering outcomes for clients, communities and the environment.
