Die Setter – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

Gallagher is seeking a Die Setter to join its Hamilton manufacturing team. Reporting to the Die Setter Supervisor, you will work closely with Plastics Operations, Tool & Die and Maintenance to keep presses, moulds and die‑sets running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out safe, accurate tool changes and machine start‑ups in line with production requirements.
• Ensure products meet quality specifications and assist with any quality issues.
• Apply strong troubleshooting skills to resolve die or machine challenges quickly.
• Contribute to Lean and SMED activities to reduce waste and optimise change‑over times.
• Plan ahead, manage time effectively and support shift flexibility when required.
• Promote and maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping (6S) and teamwork.
• Support continuous‑improvement and problem‑solving initiatives within the Plastics team.

Required profile

• Mechanically minded, proactive and comfortable in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Trade qualification (Die Setter, Plastics Engineering, mechanical, fitter‑welder or similar) or equivalent tooling experience.
• Trade Certificate in Plastics Engineering, PAMPITO qualification, or relevant mechanical trade.
• Proven experience in injection moulding or extrusion, ideally with die‑setting responsibilities.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good planning, communication and time‑management skills.
• Knowledge of Lean and SMED principles.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
