Cloud Engineer

About the role

This senior Cloud Engineer position is part of a brand‑new digital transformation in Auckland. You will own and evolve the AWS platform, improve operational reliability, and help the organisation achieve ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Own and enhance core AWS foundations – identity, networking, governance, reliability and operational readiness.
• Design and operate secure, scalable AWS components such as IAM, VPC, DNS, load balancers, logging/metrics, backup and disaster‑recovery.
• Raise operational maturity through better monitoring, alerting, runbooks, incident response and post‑incident reviews.
• Automate repeatable operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Partner with Engineering/DevOps to ensure production readiness and compliance controls.
• Maintain security documentation (access control, incident response, vendor due diligence, data handling/retention).
• Support customer security questionnaires and coordinate remediation actions.
• Administer identity and access for tools such as Google Workspace, Slack and GitHub.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in AWS platform engineering and operational reliability.
• Hands‑on experience with security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II).
• Proven ability to work autonomously and influence technical direction.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering and DevOps teams.
