About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a central Wellington finance team on a three‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role during the busy year‑end period, handling high‑volume reconciliations and supporting the overall financial close.
Key responsibilities
- Perform complex balance‑sheet reconciliations and high‑volume journal entry processing.
- Oversee end‑to‑end expense management, including review of AP aging reports.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for external auditors.
- Manage monthly accruals, pre‑payments and journal entries.
- Provide flexible ad‑hoc financial support as required.
Required profile
- Immediate availability for a Wellington‑based start.
- Proven experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline‑driven mindset.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand.
Required skills
- Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
