Assessor – Customer Information Requests (2 positions)

About the role

Join the Customer Information Requests team at Oranga Tamariki as an Assessor. You will ensure compliance with the Privacy Act and Official Information Act by reviewing and responding to requests for personal information. The role uses a risk‑based approach to decide what information can be released and involves regular communication with customers, internal teams and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Assess customer files and apply the Privacy Act and Official Information Act to determine appropriate disclosures.
• Make risk‑based decisions on information release and document outcomes.
• Communicate decisions clearly to requestors, internal stakeholders and external agencies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous learning initiatives.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with legislative requirements.

Required profile

• Customer service experience.
• Understanding of the Privacy Act and Official Information Act.
• Experience with risk assessment, issue resolution and solution identification.
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
• Awareness of cross‑cultural practices, including tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples’ culture.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience is desirable.
