Youth Support Worker – Dunedin/Ōtepoti

About the role

As a Youth Support Worker you will work alongside rangatahi who may have experienced trauma, adversity, or complex life circumstances. Through positive relationships, consistency and encouragement you will help young people develop confidence, life skills and independence while creating safe, structured and nurturing environments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support to youth in a community setting.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with rangatahi.
• Create and maintain safe, structured environments.
• Encourage development of confidence, life skills and independence.
• Work collaboratively within the Youth Team and follow Community Care Trust values.
• Participate in rostered shifts, including weekends.

Required profile

• Experience working with youth or in health, disability, social services or community sectors.
• Ability to build positive, respectful relationships.
• Understanding of strengths‑based, trauma‑informed and culturally responsive practice.
• Effective team player with strong communication skills.
• Resilience, empathy and genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Full New Zealand driver licence.
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand and, if applicable, a visa with at least 12 months remaining.
• Availability for rostered shifts, including weekends.
